David ran our preseed investment round for ChipFlow; a semi-conductor software design business. We initially were looking to raise £1m but with David’s help ended up with a US lead and being oversubscribed and ended up closing £1.2m. This only happened because of David and his team. He led the entire thing, made sure we were only talking to the right investors - managed those lists of leads and nudged/cajoled and pushed when needed. I engaged with David based on a couple of decent referrals from others - although always been dubious of a venture scouts value. I think the majority are full of s**t! However, in the case of David I can stand by and say how brilliant his network is and the quality and qualification of intros he makes. For example - out of his 300+ vc black book, he will find the relevant ones for you to talk to - saving your time. I also think the warm intro he facilitates, adds a lot of validity to any conversation. We just closed $3m at $20m valuation cap on a SAFE, through one of his intros. Being on YC, we had over 120+ inbound call requests from VCs, but ultimately it was David’s contact who were quickest, with the best and cleanest terms. No board seat, no preferred shares, immediate cash and no bulls**t tax break fund. David sorts the s**t before it gets to you. Even sifting through 120 inbounds was painful, I couldn’t actually cold outreach. All in all, great guy - there on the phone for a bit of counselling, encouragement and love - trust me you need it. The guy to vent to, laugh with and build with. Friend and colleague for life. No brainier imo.
